Could I be pregnant?

Could I be Pregnant Infographic small

The following information will help you decide if you may be pregnant or not, it looks at sexual behaviour, fertile times, and whether the activity could result in pregnancy.

Please note that the following information applies to natural cycles – that is, if you are not taking the Pill.

There are two times during your menstrual cycle when it is possible to fall pregnant –

  1. During mid cycle ovulation or when fertile mucus is present – HIGH RISK
  2. During you natal lunar phase fertile time – LOWER RISK but still possible.

If you are trying to work out what YOUR risk of being pregnant is – you need to work out if you had sex during your fertile time

Ask yourself these questions –

General cycle information Question 1 How many days is your cycle on average? From day 1 of bleeding to day 1 of bleeding.
Question 2 How many days ago did your last period start?
Question 3 How many days ago did you have sex / petting?
These first 3 questions will give you an idea of what Day you are on your cycle.
Mid cycle ovulation high risk phase Question 4 How many days ago did you last ovulate? If you know?
Question 5 Did sex occur during mid cycle ovulation fertile time?

Please note, that anytime you have fertile mucus (which could be from day 10 – day 20 of your cycle, depending upon the individual) you can be highly fertile.

See How do I know if I am fertile? for more info on recognising fertile mucus.

If your incident happened during this mid cycle phase – risk of pregnancy is very high. Higher than at any other time during your cycle.

Sexual behaviour Question 6 What was the incident? How risky was the behaviour? Did it involve ejaculation or not?

All these incidents and their risk factor depend on the womans fertility. A good golden rule is that anytime fertile mucus is present it increases the chances of getting pregnant. Fertile mucus has the wonderful ability of keeping sperm alive and transporting it to your ready and waiting egg.

  1. Unprotected intercourse with ejaculation – highly risky
  2. Withdrawal – high risk, especially during fertile times.
  3. Genital contact on the outside – no ejaculation – minimal risk
  4. Genital contact on the outside – with ejaculation – risky at fertile times
  5. Other – basically any scenario where ejaculate/semen/cum could have come in contact with vagina – risky if during fertile time
